I’m going thru a lot of classics lately, and some of the serious dirt finds it’s way here. As selfish as I am with DJing, sometimes you just have to share.
This came out on Locked On in 2000. See any future in the bass lines? It’s like staring at yrself in the mirror an’ [...]

The Kids Are Bored Radio is back, this time on SubFM. Known initially for dubstep, SubFM is quickly becoming the internet spot for all good bass music. I’ll be doing a monthly, the second Monday of every month starting tonite at 7PM EST. House, bassline, grime, dubstep, you name it.

Something a little different from me for this blog, I’ve had a weakness for a deep dubby sound for years. Ben One sent me this tune and I’m feeling it. Along the lines of Stereotyp, it’s got enough energy for a rave, but enough vibes to keep yr average stoner happy. Not his usual sound, [...]

Last week’s Rowdy! party confirmed that ladies like a bit of 2-step. With dubstep going steppy again (whistla), and balearic (D1), I think we’re going to see more tunes like this. Rusko, mostly known for his rough and rugged “Cockney Thug”, turns a corner and hits you with this one where Burial falls just short [...]

I’ve been debating getting this tune for a while, cos it’s just a little too sloppy for the dance floor. But a little bit Hollertronix, a little Bassment Jaxx and a little bit bassline, i bet it’ll kill it. I’m willing to take the risk. It’ll be like in Beetlejuice when the dead couple in [...]

They’re going around and you can’t stop it. Dr. Schmidt, badman electro breaks producer from Germany, sent me this SiBegg x-mas remix that’s been going around the forums. It’s silly and will piss off your coworkers, so crank it.

But that’s not really why I’m posting. Schmidt also sent me one of [...]

It can’t be that old, cos the original isn’t that old (2001, anyone?) but it’s so on point. So posh it makes me want new trainers, and I barely own a pair of sneakers.

I just today caught wind of a sick collection of garage tunes called United Bassline out on Ministry of Sound. Each one is both cheesier and dirtier than the last. It’s not actually available for dl in the US, but I have friends in the UK who owe me beer. Or in this case, downloads. [...]

It’s been ages since I did a studio mix, so here’s a short one of tunes I’ve been feeling lately - some classic 2step, new bassline, and hard 4 mixed with a few choice electro house tunes. So much god shit gwan! Bass in the place!

So yre like, this is a really deep garage tune. Then yre like, that sounds like Timbo’s “way I are”. Then yre all, OMG this is totally a remix. And it’s sick! Wait for the drop.
Yozzie B’s from Sheffield. The release is out on Suited’n’Booted, and the other tunes are dope, too.

America holds its own in dubstep, and South3rn has more than done their part. This latest remix is a dope stepping stone. Taking the distinct vocals of Kwesi and respectfully dipping them in dubstep bass and vibe, this tune is a sweetheart. You’ll want to take it home to yr mom.

New York producer, DJ and promoter, Dhruva, has prepared a hot as hell mix for Proton radio to air this weekend. It spans his biggest influences of dancehall, dub and dubstep. It’s got a fair number of exclusives and rarities. We’ve got the exclusive, so don’t sleep.

Okay, b-more, club or whatever you want to call, these tunes can get a bit samey samey. But just when you lose hope, or aren’t drunk enough on the dancefloor at 3AM, you hear one that hits you just right. At work and I’m not in the mood, but the Bassilleuro Remix of Charles and [...]

I’m not crazy about the original stuff from Pomomofo (dont’ hate it, just don’t love it), but then so much of what’s good these days is in the remix, refix and retouch. This version of “Back at the Club” is a little all over the map for my taste, but the chop and screw is [...]

Going back and doing some homework, I bought “The Ultimate Dancehall Mix Volume 4″ from Jamdown Records. This collection from 2002, a rough time for dancehall, touches on that weird electro sound that was popular for a minute. Hindsight being 20/20, tell me the Shockwave riddim isn’t a dubstep crossover. That bass!

I have a definite weakness for r&b flavors, esp tongue in cheek. The cats from Copenhagen get it just right with dancefloor bass, sick effects and cheeky lyrics. A little Beck, and little Mr. Bungle, a little Chromeo.
