Growing Pains

On a Thursday in February

This page has been experiencing a few growing pains recently. You may have noticed the site was down from time to time. The reason is that within the last four months, our traffic has increased two fold and we’ve been taking a pretty serious hit from our host for going over our transfer cap. We’re in the process of looking for a more robust host now so hopefully these issues will subside in a few weeks.

There’s been a tonne of new music I’ve been feeling out lately although I’m struggling with a bit of a moral roadblock with making them free to download here. My little work-around are these youtube videos I chopped up from some video art clips I had kicking around my harddrive. Hope you dig em! I know they’re not mp3’s but they sure beat the standard youtube vids you see with static album art for 6 minutes.

First up is Far Away taken from Martyn’s forthcoming Great Lengths LP. I’ve had the LP advance on repeat for roughly a week now and it’s become quite clear that we have a strong front runner for long player of the year (and it’s only February!)

Really tough to find only one “best tune” on this album. The whole thing is class from start to finish. Buy on sight.

Next up is 2000F & J Kamata’s You Don’t Know What Love Is on Kode9’s Hyperdub imprint. Hyperdub turns five this year and has an immaculate back catalog of music to back up it’s half decade long run.
HD’s has always been something of a black sheep in the Dubstep space by continuously breaking and reinventing the rules and 200F & J Kamata’s Zap and Roger inspired bump and grinder only enforces this agenda further.

Check your favorite online stores and local shops for both of these asap. Must have releases for sure.
