Where Were U In 92?

Twelve years old, stealing your dad’s smokes and getting pissed in a park on a bizarre mix of scotch, vodka and peach schnapps? Cooler and slightly older English youth were surely popping pills and ironically benefiting from a turbulent market resulting in a surplus of abandon industrial spaces to be used as party venues.

Hardcore was the score, and in 2008, Zomby brings it back again only this time, there’s been 16 years worth of Grime, Dubstep, Bassline and Jackin’ House in pull influence from.

On the surface, the shuffling break, rave stab and air horn fueled long player hardly resembles the dark minimalism found on Zomby’s previous outings on Hyperdub and Ramp. Dig a bit deeper though and one will pick up on similarities (most notably in his quirky and onorthodox production methods) that make Where were u in 92 equally interesting and desirable as his championed Dubstep 12′’s.
