Hearing Proxy’s beats sure take me back to the old school. Back in my Drum and Bass days I was obsessed with the dark techy productions of Ed Rush and Optical, Konflict and Teebee.
After writing this page for a little over a year, It’s comforting to know a number of other bloggers have similar backgrounds. Aleks at Discodust and I have talked about Proxy’s uncanny musical likeness to old techstep dnb a number of times and although nothing is confirmed, I’m convinced that Proxy is somehow tied to the wave of Russian Producers that took over Trace’s DSCI4 label back in early 2000.
Regardless of truth, Proxy is bringing notch filtered sawtooth bass to a whole new audience. Back to the ol school.
