Coop de George

London House duo Andy George and Scott Cooper’s joint EP featuring the ragga infused jacker The Piano Man hit stores earlier this week with impeccable timing. Given that Caribana is just around the corner and literally every radio station from CBC to Proud FM is playing Soca riddims 24/7 and all.
Watch for a load of forthcoming material for these two in the [...]

ZeeDeeHess

Head over heals in love with Zombie Disco Squad’s new Trumpets and Tom Toms EP released last week. Already sold out at Phonica, I’m fighting tooth and nail snag a copy to play out in the coming days.
Luckily, there’s this recent ZDS edit of Oliver Dollar’s Mash Mellow to tide us over until we can track down our Vie [...]

Sharkslayer R U L E S.

Sharkslayer kicks your dad’s fucking ass. I’m not really sure what else to say.. honest.
I’m absolutly loving this guys work and was delighted when we were sent a copy of his new EP entitled Don’t Go In The Water on Top Billin’ the other day.
100% bona fined facemelt 2008 realness here. Rib crushing [...]

JOTS Mishka Mix

Been eagerly waiting to post this mix for a few weeks now. Not only because we think the JOTS boys kick butt, but Miska has some lovely photos in their summer 08 gallery that compliment this post wonderfully. Ottawa’s Jokers Of The Scene are lucky enough to christen the launch of Mishka NYC’s new Mix [...]

Lovey City

Blogging is a funny thing. When this page first started out, we could give a flying fuck about posting stuff super quick. We just put up what we were feeling. However, as time advances and your blog gets a little more attention, being lighting fast to post something sorta eats away at you.
We were emailed [...]

A million here a million there..

A whole wack of mixtape food for your ipod today. All the track-listings can be viewed by using our new super nifty dynamic dropdown plugin. Just click “view tracklist”, sit back and gush over that crazy shit.

Wearhouse Music head honcho Lee Mortimer passed over his recent mix the other day. Chalk full of exclusive stuff [...]

Fuckingham

Alter Ego’s Fuckingham Palace gets to remix treatment by Modeselektor with suprisingly wicked results. It’s interesting that Modeselektor’s translation of Palace is a sort of 4X4 Dubstep roller similar to that of Bomaman’s unofficial remix we posted a while back.
Rolling kicks, half time snares detuned leads and wonky bass for the win.
Alter Ego - Fuckingham [...]

Appleblim - RA Podcast

Just had a chance to listen to the excellent Resident Advisor Podcast featuring Skull Disco’s Appleblim on the 1’s and 2’s.
Staying true to the the theme of Skull Disco’s past Dubstep/Techno/House hybrid releases, Appleblim’s mix flirts back and forth between stark dubstep minimalism, echo laden techno and earthy microhouse. Check RA’s interview with Appleblim here..
Appleblim [...]

All Hail The Bird

So this might sound a bit bold but as far as I’m concerned, The Martin Brothers are hands down, without a doubt the most amazing thing in dance music right now.
No other music out makes me want to funk out like the work created when Christian Martin and Justin Martin pair up. Warped and pitch [...]

Ol Skool Takin’ Ya Back

Hearing Proxy’s beats sure take me back to the old school. Back in my Drum and Bass days I was obsessed with the dark techy productions of Ed Rush and Optical, Konflict and Teebee.
After writing this page for a little over a year, It’s comforting to know a number of other bloggers have similar backgrounds. [...]

A C I E E D

Melbourne’s Acid Jacks recently released Brains! single on Idiot House has struck something of a deep chord with CC HQ.
The footprint Roland has left on modern music is really quite impressive. Entire sub-genres have been built around TB-303 transistor basslines and along with the Electric Guitar, the TR-808 is probably one of the most recognizable [...]

Kevin Costner is an ARMY

Our boy Egyptrixx recently wrapped up a new mixtape for our local partners in crime DMoney’s new Blog. Entitled The Kevin Costner Mix, the session was reportedly to be inspired by the cinematic ascendency of Kevin Costner and songs about Shallow Sex.
Check out DMoney’s new blog www.dmoneytoronto.com now.. they dope.

The Bug w/ Warrior Queen @ Drake Hotel (Toronto) July 24

Video: The Bug w/ Warrior Queen - Aktion Pak
It’s due time for some proper Dubstep bashment on this page. The wait was painful, the medicine is ooooooh so tasty.
July 24th, Ninja Tune and Curb Crawlers team up to promote this summer’s best Dubstep / Grime / Dancehall / Bashment show [...]

E R US

Hardcore will never die. Sadly, I was knee high to a grasshopper when Lennie De Ice’s We Are I.E was in it’s prime. I sure felt it’s aftermath though as the Acid House / Proto-Jungle anthem undoubtedly laid the groundwork that British dance music to follow for the next 20 years.
We Are I.E is set [...]

Death Before Disco

Oh Death sorted us with a fresh new Trevor Loveys bit this morning as part of a promotional effort for the upcoming Death Before Disco night at Plan B in London.
Loveys alongside Chris Belsey make up the duo know as Li’ll Bo Tweak and have a few outings on Jesse Rose’s Berlin based Made To [...]

Jerk It

Thunderheist’s third EP Jerk It is set to release some time in July on the Toronto based label Nasty Mix.
The original mix of Jerk It might not be news to trainspotters, it was released on Thuderheist’s indie outing back in March of 2007. However, it should be said that you’d have to be one nutter [...]

Scott Cooper’s Mad Again

Scott Cooper has drafted up a workout of a bootleg Mad Again version to help promo his upcoming North American Tour.
South Rakkas Crew - Mad Again (Scott Cooper Boot) 320
First stop is Toronto (Lucky Us!) and it’s sure to be a killer show. Yours truly and Fistfight are behind the promotion effort and to sweeten [...]

Wellness is Wild

France-based duo Goon & Koyote drop their first ever EP entitled Wellness is Wild June 30th.
Odd as it is that this marks their first EP outing as a team, the pair have been the forerunners responsible for exporting the French booty-house sound to the rest of the world via the Diamond Grills mixtape brand for [...]

Get Micro

Been loving a lot of bass heavy micro beats lately. It’s good taking a break from the face melters at times to get lost is some stripped-down low end funk. Here are two that have I’ve been all over in recent weeks. Riva Starr (no stranger to love on this page) does a bang [...]
