Drums of Death

I’ve been waiting to make this entry for some time now.
For the last few months now, my iPod has been working overtime with new tunes by a soon to be household name.

I first heard Drums of Death aka Kid Twist’s music when Curses! played in Toronto last.
Over all I thought the music played at the Institutes night was decent, nothing really stood out as being extraordinary until DTL played something that I can only describe as some demented mechanical monster crushing my chest with bass and slapping my face with razor sharp snares.

Fast forward one week and I’m downloading Starkey’s promo mix for his Street Bass Anthems 2 LP and low and behold, the same beast I heard before was bleeding through my speakers at home.

After a bit of searching around the net, I located the man behind this new refreshing sound. If you haven’t heard much from him by now.. it’s time to wake the fuck up because his name is something you’ll be hearing a lot more of in the months to come.

Drums of Death aka Kid Twist, a recent Weegie transplant now living in London, pulls influence from cats like DJ Pierre, AFX, Chris & Cosey, Wiley and Gonzales, melding these sounds and incorporating live vocals into some red hot music.

A few months from now, online music shops will begin seeing a slew of releases from DOD, all of which have multiple big gun labels jizzing their jockeys to get a piece of the action.
Today, we’ll have to wait and see which imprint comes out on top and brings you Kid’s music on wax. Until the final word drops, watch the Drums of Death site for updates as it looks like the first 12” to see shops soon will be his original piece Breathe backed with a rave fuelled rmx by Curses!.

Pass the waiting period by downloading and enjoying the exclusives I’ve linked at the below. To check out a snippet of DOD’s Breathe original, peep it here. To check out a clip of the Curses! rmx of Breathe, peep it here.
